Children's theme park tourism hot projects but lack of novelty

In recent years, children's theme parks have become a hot spot for national tourism. The construction of theme parks in my country is also very fast. However, the projects of children's theme parks are similar and lack new ideas, making it difficult to attract more tourists. As a result, over 70% of theme parks are at a loss.

Although China will focus on building a number of large-scale theme parks in the future, the demand for my country’s tourism market is large enough and the theme 'Sheep effect' can also be formed between parks. Statistics show that China is building theme parks at the fastest rate in the world. In 2015 alone, 21 theme parks opened in China and another 20 are under construction. According to statistics from the American consulting company AECOM, among the top ten theme park groups in the world in 2015, China Theme Park Group accounted for 4 seats, namely OCT Group, Chimelong Group, Huaqiang Fangte and Songcheng Group, and their overall tourist growth rate Up to 34%.

It is understood that there are four main types of theme parks in my country. One is the amusement park represented by Happy Valley under the Overseas Chinese Town; the other is the theme park with artificial scenes, with the theme of movie studios or TV programs. Zhejiang Hengdian Film and Television City is a typical example; the third is a tourist theme park, such as Splendid China; and the fourth is a specific theme park represented by Haichang Holdings and Dalian Shengya Ocean Theme Park.

Although capital is rushing into the theme park market, in the eyes of industry insiders, this wave of enthusiasm is still mixed. The good news is that the main reason why capital favors theme parks is that they are optimistic about the huge potential of China's tourism market; the worry is that domestic theme parks have overheated investment. For example, the original theme parks are generally settled in first-tier cities, but now many prefecture-level cities, even county-level cities such as Yiwu, Zhejiang, have begun to invest in construction.

Some experts said that while the theme parks are being built everywhere, their profit prospects are not optimistic. Data shows that 70% of my country's more than 300 theme parks lose money, 20% are flat, and only 10% are profitable. Why haven't domestic theme parks achieved good benefits? Public data shows that most of the income of mature foreign theme parks comes from secondary consumption such as derivatives. The management of virtual characters in movies has created a derivative industry chain, and has developed a series of consumer products such as movies, parks, cruises, clothing, publications, musicals, toys, food, education, daily necessities, and electronic products.

'Currently, domestic theme park projects generally lack new ideas. At the same time, many entertainment projects do not have much cultural content and do not dig deep into the theme content. In addition, many theme parks are overly dependent on ticket revenue.' Industry insiders said that in the future, a diversified profit model will become the main direction for the transformation of domestic theme parks. Domestic tourism companies should seize the opportunities brought by amusement technology innovation to theme parks, develop products in depth, and further expand market demand.
